[Forest City, NC, 1/25/2021] On January 21, 2021, at 5:35 PM, the Rutherford County Communications Center received a call for assistance on Doggett Road in Forest City in reference to a male subject pointing a gun at someone. When officers arrived on scene, two males were found shot in the front yard of the residence.
Douglas Cole Suhy, age 25, had a gunshot wound to a lower extremity. Deputies applied a tourniquet and rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived to continue care. Suhy was transported to Cleveland Regional Medical Center, treated for his injuries, and released shortly thereafter.
Jarvis Cole Tate, age 29, was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
No one else was injured during this incident.
At this time, it appears that only Douglas Cole Suhy and Jarvis Cole Tate were directly involved in the shooting of one another. The investigation into this incident continues and all leads are currently being pursued by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. As new information develops in this investigation, it will be released when possible.
