RUTHERFORDTON – The Town of Rutherfordton, Rutherfordton Fire & Rescue, Firefighters, and citizens near and far are going to miss the guiding strength of Fire Chief Tommy Blanton. However, after 31 years of service, Blanton has earned his upcoming retirement. Last week a celebration of Tommy’s service to the community was held at the Rutherfordton Fire & Rescue Firehouse.

Amongst the local dignitaries: Former Town Manager Karen Andrews, Mayor Jimmy Dancy, Town Manager Doug Barrick, Public Works Director Keith Ward, Council Members Stan Clements and Henri Giles. Fire Chiefs from Henderson and Buncombe Counties. Members of neighboring fire departments, RC citizens and EMS from Shelby all came by to show their respect to Chief Blanton.

Thanks for your dedicated service to this community Chief.

There’s a reason for Keith’s boots!
