 Clyde Richard Greene, age 30, of Forest City, died Friday, February 7, 2020 at his residence.

      Clyde was born June 15, 1989 in Rutherford County to the late Scott Greene and Teresa Vance Greene. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed family outings. He was an avid video gamer and enjoyed playing horseshoes.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Marty Metzinger.

      Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Alicia Greene; two brothers, Chris Greene (Stacy) and Mark Greene all of Forest City; sister, Amanda Wilson of Forest City; five nieces, Brittany Fish, Ann Wilson, Madysen Wilson, Miya Webb, Nevaeh Webb; two nephews, Chris Greene and Tyler Schultz and a great-nephew, Aydan Bradley. His also survived by his mother-in-law, Diane Metzinger of Forest City.

      A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Chad Roach officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

     Memorial donations are requested to Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 US Highway 221A, Forest City, NC to help defray funeral costs.

Scott William Greene, age 55, of Forest City, passed away in Bladen County, on Saturday, February 1, 2020.

     Scott was born March 12, 1964 in Rutherford County to the late Jesse Woodrow Greene and Jane Baynard Greene.  He worked in construction most of his life and enjoyed watching NASCAR and fishing.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Vance Greene and a brother, Jeffery Greene.

     Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Chris Greene (Stacy) and Mark Greene; a daughter, Amanda Wilson all of Forest City; a sister, Angela Greene of Forest City; seven grandchildren, Brittany Fish, Anna Wilson, Madysen Wilson, Miya Webb, Nevaeh Webb, Chris Greene, Tyler Schultz and a great-grandchild, Aydan Bradley.

Linda Ann Silvers Baynard of Rutherfordton passed away on February 9, 2020 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Fincannon Silvers and Leroy Silvers, as well as her brother, James Silvers.

She is survived by her two brothers, Marvin Silvers, his wife Linda, and Kenneth Silvers; her four daughters Denise Yelton and husband David, Lisa Jackson and husband Vernon, Gina Searcy and husband Shane, Sharon Dulaney and husband Terry; nine grandchildren Katie, Allyson, and Emily Yelton, Heather and Clay Turner, Brandi Camp and husband Brent, Chris Searcy and wife Sandy, Danielle Hill and husband Tommy, and Natalie Upton; eight great-grandchildren Hudson, Ellie, and Evie Camp, Kaylee and Camden Searcy, Garrett Upton and Alleigh Holland, and Blakely Turner.

Linda Baynard was a weaver and a loom technician for forty years at Stonecutter Mills, Spindale Mills, and Mastercraft. She loved her job and her extended family she found at work. Linda was also an active member of Gilboa United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton, and she loved her church family like her own family.

Linda was the matriarch of her family. A strong woman who especially enjoyed holidays, family meals, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was an unbeatable cook, and her crock pot macaroni and cheese, desserts, and sweet tea were famous at church gatherings as well. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working out, and loved country music – especially Conway Twitty and George Strait. Linda had a contagious smile and loved to laugh and joke with her loved ones and friends. She kept a positive attitude and strong will, even during difficult times.

The memorial service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 6:00 PM at Gilboa United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Linda’s name to her church, Gilboa United Methodist c/o Denise Yelton, Treasurer, at 265 Amber Oaks Drive, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.

Patricia Gayle Smith Marlowe, 69, of Union Mills went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 10, 2020.  She is the daughter of the late Walter Gale Smith and Theron Veighlene Garner Smith.  Patti is survived by her husband Sam Marlowe of the home, a son Sam Marlowe Jr., wife Missy and grand daughter Hannah of Green Creek, son Brian Marlowe, wife Kelley and grand daughter Emma of Carolina Beach, daughter, Jill Simmons, husband Ashley and grand daughters Laney and Taylor of Roanoke, VA. Patti is also survived by brothers Mark Smith of Union Mills and Ronnie Smith of Lexington, NC.  Patti is also survived by children she adopted in her heart, a son, Apostle Jekov and wife Zori, grandchildren Alexa and Christopher of Kissimmee, FL, and a son Peter and Rachel Chov and grandson Charlie of Forest City, a son Michael Chov and grandchildren Julie and Nathan, and a son Bobby Chang of PA.  Patti also leaves behind two very special friends Sandra Baynard and Sarah Norville.

Patti graduated from Gardner Webb University where she earned her Associates Degree in Nursing.  She started her career as a Registered Nurse at Rutherford Hospital and then later worked and retired from the Rutherford County Health Department where she worked in family planning.

Patti was a faithful and devoted member of Second Baptist Church where she served in many capacities such as Caring Hands Ministry and the Kitchen Ministry.

A service is planned for 2PM Wednesday February 12th, 2020 at Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton, 191 Green Street Rutherfordton, NC 28139.   The family will receive friends from 12:30PM until 2PM in the Church.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Second Baptist Church Caring Hands Ministry, 191 Green Street Rutherfordton, NC 28139.

Charlotte Hope Meaders Whitaker was born on September 3rd 1928 in Atlanta, GA to the late Charlotte Hope Smith Meaders, and James Capers Meaders.  Charlotte was under Hospice care, and passed away on February 6th, 2020 at The Berkeley in Morganton, NC. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Carlton Whitaker; brother James Fletcher Meaders; and sister Emily Anne Meaders Kimberly.  Charlotte is survived by her daughter Charlotte Patricia Whitaker of Rutherfordton, NC; brother Paul McLarin “Larry” Meaders (Frances) of Peachtree City, GA; sister Alice Meaders Glass (Roger) of Cumming, GA; nine nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and nephews. Charlotte was a graduate of the class of 1946, Girls High, Atlanta, GA. She was involved in Girl Scouts of America for fifteen years as a leader for Brownie, Junior, Cadet and Senior troops as well as a Camp License Trainer in both East Point, GA and Tupelo, MS. During her career, Charlotte worked for fourteen years with the US National Park Service at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor’s Center in Tupelo, MS as a park guide and historical and environmental educator. Throughout her life, she resided in Atlanta, GA, East Point, GA, Tupelo, MS, Palmetto, GA, Forest City, NC and Morganton, NC. She was a member of Mary Brannan United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA; First United Methodist Church of Tupelo, MS; and Antioch United Methodist Church in Fairburn, GA;  A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2020 at Antioch UMC Fairburn, GA.  Foy Flack Melton, 100, of Mt. Pleasant, NC, died Monday, February 10, 2020 at Mt. Pleasant House.

He was the son of the late Douglas and Myrtle Melton. He was  also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Goode Melton; and his second wife, Annie Belle Melton; a stepson, George Powell; his brother, Preston Long Melton; and 3 sisters, Eloise Stilwell, Loretta Lemmond, and Helen Sue Melton. Paul graduated from Pfeiffer College and worked in Greenville, SC and Bluefield, WV. before entering service. He was a US Army veteran and served in WW II. After service, he moved to Charlotte and worked as a bookkeeper for P & N Railway, Triplett Lumber Company, and Overton Home Improvement Company. He then formed his own company, Melton Construction Company, later Economy Builders in Chester, SC where he lived and operated the company until his retirement.

He attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Chester, but also remained a faithful member of Golden Valley United Methodist Church, and never missed a Memorial/Homecoming Service until 2019 when his health didn’t allow him to return.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Margaret Cline Wert and Hannah Maurer, both of Charlotte; 3 stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews whom he was very close to, and saw to his care in his later years.

The Funeral will conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Golden Valley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Pat Looper and the

Rev. Linda Stack Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
The Visitation will be from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm Saturday at the church prior to the service.
