 Nancy Bivins Harris, 73, of Cliffside, died Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Fair Haven Home, Forest City.
She was the daughter of the late Grover and Ivis Wilson Bivens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 of her brothers, Marvin Bivens and Wayne Bivens.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Mack Harris, Sr; her 3 sons, Johnny Mack Harris, Jr. and Steven Wayne Harris, both of Forest City, and Donald Andrew Harris of Shelby; her sister, Martha McCurry of Golden Valley; 2 brothers, Garland Bivens and David Bivens, both of Forest City; there are 3 grandchildren, Hannah Grace Dailey, Ashleigh Cheyenne Harris, and Donald Alexander Harris.

The Funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church.

The Rev. Sam Henderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service.

Mary Frances Taylor Ruppe, age 89, of Henrietta, NC, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at her residence.
     
Mary was born May 10, 1930 in Chesnee, SC to the late William Misher Taylor and Mary Elizabeth Smith Taylor. She worked for Broyhill Furniture for many years before retirement and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed participating in various activities at the Rutherford County Senior Center.
    
 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Ruppe, Sr.; four brothers, Willie, Grady and Clifton Taylor and three sisters, Vera Hayse, Estelle Fields and Eva Taylor.
     
Those left to cherish her memory include four sons, Cecil Ruppe (Jackie) of Marion, Bruce Ruppe (Pat) of Spindale, L.C. Ruppe, Jr. (Sandy) of Ellenboro and Mike Ruppe of Henrietta; five daughters, Rhonda R. Smith, Christine Smith (Delano) of Golden Valley, Vickie Potter (James) of Mooresboro, Rita Harris (Dale) of Mooresboro and Lynn Greene (Gary) of Forest City; one sister, Ruby Taylor Dukes or Ruth Community She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
     
 The funeral service will be conducted at 2  p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 250 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Forest City with Bishop Kenneth Oliphant, Bishop Ray Ruppe and Reverend Tripp Queen officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Robert William Carpenter, age 75, of Ellenboro, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
     Robert was born July 22, 1944 in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Everett Clarence Carpenter and Williemetto Fite Carpenter.  He worked for Fast Food Merchandise for twenty-two years before retirement and for the Maintenance Department at the Ellenboro Town Hall.  Robert was a long time and faithful member of Victory Baptist Church of Ellenboro where he served as a deacon, church treasurer, Adult Sunday School teacher and on the pulpit committee. He was an avid UNC Tarheel fan and enjoyed gardening. He was dedicated to his family, his church and to his God.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, C.O., Everett Jr., Charlie and Harvey Carpenter and two sisters, Elaine Connor and Joann Cook.
     Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Geraldine Sams Carpenter; daughter, Tammy Scruggs (Todd) of Ellenboro; son, Reggie Carpenter (Robin) of Caroleen and a sister, Darcus Revels (Gerald) of Forest City. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Preston Scruggs (Kinsey Williams), Dylan Scruggs, Zach Scruggs, Brett Carpenter and Chase Carpenter.
      The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019 with Reverend Johnny McCarty and Reverend Randy Church officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Calvin “CJ” Justice McClellan, age 87, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Oak Grove Health Care Center.

He was the son of the late Arnold McClellan and the late Martha Thomas McClellan and he was a native of Rutherford County. CJ was the widower of the late Joann McClellan. He was also preceded in death by his son: Johnny Laughter, brothers: Henry McClellan, and Carrol McClellan, sister: Adalene Wall and one daughter: Angela Laughter. CJ was a member of Oak Springs Baptist Church. He loved his chickens and his bees and he also loved his family very much.

He is survived by

Four Daughters: Tammy Spivey, Shannon Kuykendall and her husband Michael and Kylie Bradley and her husband Tony

One Son: Joshua McClellan

Three Brothers: James McClellan, Eugene McClellan and Dewey McClellan

Eight Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 16, 2019 at McMahan’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Oak Springs Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 17, 2019 with Reverend Jamie Pascarella, Reverend Kevin Bradley, and Reverend Tommy Hutchins officiating.

Interment will be at Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery following the service with Reverend Alvin Allen officiating.
