 Billie Jo Waters Reece, age 42, of Mooresboro, NC, died Thursday, July 11, 2019 at her residence.
     
Billie Jo was born October 27, 1976 in Rutherford County to Billy Waters who resides in Forest City and the late Regina Sprouse. She was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1994 and graduated with honors from Isothermal Community College. She worked as a CNA for several years and was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Billie Jo was known for her creativity and enjoyed spending time with her family and going on camping trips.
  
  In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of nineteen years, Ronald D. Reece; three daughters of the home, Kaitlyn Reece, Jessica Reece and Chelsey Reece and one brother, Kenny Waters of Mooresboro.
     
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Sheila Mae Harrington, age 87, of Lake Lure, NC passed away on July 10th 2019 at the Life Care Center in Hendersonville, NC.
Sheila was the daughter of the late Joseph Lawrence and Dorothea Eugenia Connelly. Sheila was a lifelong teacher retiring from Wayne County Schools in New York where she was a Reading Specialist. She received the Teacher of the Year Award in addition to the Golden Apple Award for her Excellence in Teaching. She attended Geneseo State and St. John Fisher College where she completed a Master’s Degree.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Erin Welty and Colleen Welty; longtime companion Dexter Deeley; and brother Terrance Connelly. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Ann Welty.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday July 15th 2019 at Life Care Center 400 Thompson St. Hendersonville, NC 28792. The family will receive friends following the service. Sheila’s ashes will be scattered at her beloved home in Lake Lure, NC.

Brenda Davis, age 70, of Bostic, NC, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
     Brenda was born October 6, 1948 in Rutherford County to the late William “Howard” Hawkins and Lola Mae Pitchford Hawkins. She was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, reading and puzzles. Brenda was an honest person who was never afraid to speak her mind. She loved her family dearly.
      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melissa Ann Davis and a sister, Lynda Huskey.
      Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of fifty years, Ray Davis; two daughters, Pennie Fisher (Kyle) of Ellenboro and Rhonda Thompson (Danny) of Ellenboro; sister, Wanda Rector of Dobbinsville; five grandchildren, Breanne Roach (Andy), Josh Fisher (Geena), Brandon Fisher (Tara), Corey Church (Kelsey) and Kylie Mitchell (Michael); twelve great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
     The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ted Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in Bald Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mary Helen Fowler Greene, age 72, Ellenboro, NC, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.
    Mary was born July 2, 1947 in Rutherford County to the late Hollis Fowler and Lora Blackwell Fowler. Mary worked at Specialty Lighting in Shelby until retirement at the age 62.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmy Fowler, Larry Fowler, Charles Fowler, Danny Fowler and a sister, Barbara Skipper.
     Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of fifty-seven years, William “Preston” Greene; two sons, William “Bill” Greene, Jr. (Sherry) and Alan Greene (Linda); two daughters, Shannon Greene (Danielle) and Crystal Greene; three sisters, Betty Graham, Margie Ruff and Linda Anders (Clayton). She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, Pamela (Joey), Kristen, Desiree, Codi, Ashlee (Tim), Alan Greene Jr. (Kaade), Amanda, Heather (Brandon), Timothy (Kristen), Casey (Mikayla), Brandon (Taylor), Shayna (Tyler), Jessica (Austin), Hunter, Luke and Haylee; twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
     A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Concord Baptist Church with Reverend Travis Laflin officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the church before the service.
    Memorial donations are requested to William P. Greene, 303 Leon Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040 to help defray funeral costs.

Estalee Duckett Waters, age 84, of Union Mills passed away Saturday at her home. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Norman and Lorena Bramlett Duckett. Estalee was retired from the State of North Carolina and also from the textile industry. She was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church in Haywood County. Left to cherish her memory are 4 sons; Kenny Duckett, Dewayne , Buddy and Steve Conard ; daughters Debbie Melton and Jeannie Waters along with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by a sister Wilsie Cook and brothers Luther and Ralph Duckett .

Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday July 15 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in the Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service. The family request memorials be made to the Rutherford County Honor Guard C/O Veterans Service Office 303 Fairground Rd. Spindale, NC 28160.

Mr. Charles Lawter, 82, of Rutherfordton, died Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

He was the widower of Hazel Butler Lawter and a son of the late Farist and Ida Ruth Edwards Lawter.
Charles was a member of Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church and was still working at Parker-Hannafin. He was a US Army veteran.
He is survived by his daughter, Joanna Street of Forest City; his son, Brian Lawter of Rutherfordton; his sisters, Jan Graham of Forest City, and Wilma Dotson of Kings Mountain; his brother, Roger Lawter of Mill Spring; and his 3 grandchildren, Lauren Street, Jeremiah Lawter, and Jacob Lawter.
The Funeral will be conducted at 4:00 pm Monday, July 15, 2019 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. The Rev. John T Edwards will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Walls Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Rites will be rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.

   Frances Teaster Ledbetter, age 91, of Forest City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Fair Haven of Forest City.
Frances was born on September 26, 1927 to the late George Ivy McSwain and Bessie Ramsey McSwain. She was a graduate of Tri-High, class of 1944 and a longtime member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.
Frances was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She previously worked as a private caregiver, foster parent and co-owned an appliance business for many years with her first husband, Clyde Teaster. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by two husbands, Clyde Teaster and Roy Ledbetter, sons Roger Teaster and Kenneth Teaster; daughter, Brenda Teaster and a granddaughter Angela Ashe.
     Those left to cherish her memory are daughter-in-law, Beth Teaster of Mooresboro, stepdaughters, Donna Larch (Larry) and Janice Faucett all of Boiling Springs SC and stepson, Gerry Ledbetter (Lesa) of Rutherfordton NC;  granddaughter Lisa Teaster Childers (Randy) of Forest City NC, grandsons Dwight Martin (Lisa) of Little Elm, Tx , Mark Teaster of Mooresboro, NC ,  and Wayne Teaster (Jessica) of Escondido, Ca; step- grandchildren, Stephanie Henson Morgan (Rick) of Columbus NC, Ivan Henson (Heather) of Boiling Springs SC, Tasha Cooper of Campobello, SC and Brandy Cooper of Campobello, SC , Jonathon Ledbetter (Kayla) of Rutherfordton, NC, and Amanda Ledbetter of Rutherfordton; 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
    The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 with Reverends Kenny Weaver, Billy Poe Jones and Joey Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at the home of Beth Teaster.
