RUTHERFORD COUNTY, NC — The Rutherford County Economic Development public/private partnership announced today that Mrs. Birgit Dilgert has been appointed as the new Economic Development Director. Mrs. Dilgert, who is a Town of Rutherfordton resident and a graduate of St. Catharines Business College in Ontario, Canada where she earned a business degree with a minor in Travel Consulting, has worked in several capacities during her seven-year tenure with Rutherford County Economic Development and brings a wealth of economic development experience and knowledge to this position.

Maria Hunnicutt, who chairs the organizations 501 (c)(6) Association, states,

“Birgit’s experience, dedication to Rutherford County, and excitement about the vision of our organization makes
her a perfect fit for the Director position”.

The organizations 501 (c)(3) Corporation Chairperson Andy Cobb adds, “We are pleased and excited about Birgit’s selection as our new Director. Her level of experience and understanding of economic development make her a proven and valuable asset to the organization and to our entire community.”

Ms. Dilgert will begin her new role as the Economic Development Director on November 18, 2019. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Deputy Director for the organization.
