Musings: Out and About

Time with loved ones is so precious. The Fourth of July celebrations brought relatives and friends together – lots of smiles, fireworks, and food of course.  Being back in the South that means deviled eggs, sweet tea, barbecue, Carolina hash, coleslaw, flyswatters, good coffee, porch swing family updates, slammed screen doors and entertaining kids – it was GREAT! Hope yours was too.

Barista Virginia at Small Town Roasters makes fine coffee drinks. This Rutherfordton coffee shop has become a local hangout.

Sitting at the coffee shop I noted new businesses in town:event space ONE 13 .W. Court Street now has extra parking and 2 jogs in the road. Follow the yellow lined non-brick road. W. Court Street is coming up in the world.

Prayers for those involved in the wreck on 221A near Ferry Road. The accident was still being worked so I took a picture and then took the detour.

Dr. Janet Mason stepped down as the Rutherford County Schools District Supervisor to take the Forest City manager position that John Condrey recently retired from.

Egg on someone’s face when a prisoner was brought down from Raleigh during a recent court session to testify in a case and the case wasn’t even on the docket. The District Attorney is responsible for calling the cases to be tried.
