LLCA Students Earn Gold Certifications

Lake Lure, NC — Through Lake Lure Classical Academy’s (LLCA) partnership with Isothermal Community College (ICC), more than a dozen high school students were recently awarded the Guest Service Gold Certification and pin from the American Hotel and Lodging Institute. This institute is the premier training entity recognized by the hospitality industry. All registration fees for the training were covered by the Z. Smith Reynolds grant.

For those students hoping to have a summer or weekend job, this training lays the foundation of soft skills that every employer states they value and begins the student’s employability skill training process.

Karen Marshall, Director of Human Resource Development at ICC, was on hand for the awards presentations with LLCA Secondary Dean Brad White. Ms. Marshall commended the students for all earning high marks on their exams.

“LLCA and ICC’s partnership give students an option to graduate with their high school diploma and an
associate degree or technical certification,” says Dean White. “It’s a great jump start on life.”
