Lake Lure’s Raptor Center Soars to Success

LAKE LURE — On Saturday, June 22, 2019 the Lake Lure Music Festival held its inaugural concert – AN EVENING OF EXTRAORDINARY MUSIC.

Three world-renowned musicians captivated the Western NC audience:

  • Violinist Chee-Yun
  • Houston Symphony Principal Clarinetist Mark Nuccio
  • Award-winning pianist Scott Cuellar

The evening’s program also incorporates a narrative performance by Director Chris Dolman of Cape May Stage.

The event was held in the brand new 1,300-seat Gymnatorium at Lake Lure Classical Academy which for the evening sounded like an acoustically tuned concert hall. The new sound system allows a “tweaking” of the hall which was also aided by the protective carpet over the floor, and extra insulation in the building walls.

Concert goers as well as performers commented on the professionalism of the lighting, sound, performance, and stage management. The musicians will be carrying home a message of southern hospitality from their stay in Lake Lure.

All funds raised from the Lake Lure Music Festival support Lake Lure Classical Academy and its students.

Congratulations to the team that created this series.
