Hickory Creek Shopping Center has a new life with the arrival of the Everything Must Go store. Sam Pires, owner of the East Marion Street property, will implement a destination place vision. Pires plans to repave the shopping center parking lot, upgrade the dated façade and maybe even add a coffee shop.
The parking lot was full on Dollar Day and Everything Must Go already had over a 100 people there politely milling about the bins of merchandise. Each bin contained dozens of phone cases, scarves, wireless earbuds, kitchen tools, baby formula, recently released movies and more. Pires gets his overstock merchandise from multiple national retailers.
Pires’s concept for his store is that overstock merchandise is put into waist-high bins that people can rummage through. On Friday and Saturday, all items in the bins are $5. On Monday the price drops to $3, Tuesday $2 and finally a $1 on Wednesday.
Everything Must Go is located at 1157 E. Marion St. Suite 5, Shelby.
Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Monday through Wednesday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Closed on Sunday and Thursday
Each Thursday, new overstock merchandise arrives by the truckload and the staff unpack and fill the bins. They also have a separate area for bigger ticket items like appliances and computers.
Pires opened up an Everything Must Go store in Dallas, Texas first and it was a success. He and his Texas partner hope to have even more success at his new store in Shelby. Already shoppers are arriving from surrounding counties.
Best of luck to Pires in his new endeavors.
