Dr. Kevin Marino has joined Rutherford County as the Interim Director of the Department of Social Services (DSS). Dr. Marino attended R.S. Central High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Services and Bible from Montreat College, a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology, and a Doctor of Public Administration from Walden University.
Kevin has a combined total of 15 years of North Carolina Social Services experience. Most recently, Kevin was the Interim Director at Transylvania County DSS, and prior experience includes Social Work Program Administrator in Henderson County, Deputy Director of Social Services in Montgomery County, and Child Welfare Social Worker in Transylvania County, North Carolina.
DSS Board Chair Barbara Thompson said, “We are very excited to have Kevin as our Interim Director. We look forward to working with him, his team, and community partners, including County departments, non-profit agencies, County Commissioners, and the County Manager to achieve positive outcomes for DSS clients and the community. We look forward to working with Kevin and his team to building stronger relationships in our community and helping to find the next long-term director.”
Dr. Marino said, “It is a blessing and great opportunity to serve in my hometown community. I pray and hope that together we can be the best DSS Department in the State of North Carolina. I have already met so many passionate community leaders and professionals. My team and I are ready to work hard and do our part to improve the health and safety of our community members.”
