On 4-2-2021, at approximately 2137 hours, Deputy H. Haynes with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Division attempted to stop a motorcycle for a traffic violation in the area of Ferry Rd and Island Ford Rd.

The motorcycle, which was driven by Craig Raymond Swink, initially pulled over but as Deputy Haynes exited his patrol vehicle, Swink took off at a high rate of speed.

A short pursuit occurred but ended with Swink driving down a dirt road near Barkley Dr on Goodes Creek Church Rd and running on foot into the woods.

Deputies and some N. C. S. H. P. troopers, set up a perimeter.

A sheriff’s office K-9 was deployed to attempt to locate Swink who was believed to be hiding in the thick brush near a creek.

Swink was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, PWIMSD Schedule VI controlled substance, Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling, and Driving While License Revoked.
