STATESVILLE, N.C. — Three earthquakes were recorded in North Carolina and Tennessee overnight Friday into Saturday. A 2.0 magnitude earthquake shook Iredell County early Saturday morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake happened at 4:33 a.m. about 3.1 miles west of Statesville. It was close to the surface at only 0.06 miles deep.
Tennessee also experienced two earthquakes hours before, with one near Dyersburg in the west at 9:18 p.m. and another near Sweetwater in the east at 10:17 p.m.
The earthquake near Dyersburg was recorded at a 1.8 magnitude and the Sweetwater earthquake was at a 1.7 magnitude.
No damages were reported for any of the earthquakes, according to USGS.
