NORTH CAROLINA – Some people may have felt an earthquake Saturday night. Officials reported two small earthquakes were recorded in the Charlotte area, one near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the other in Union County.

The first one  was centered about 12 miles north of Lenoir hit just before midnight. Geologists measured it as a 2.1 magnitude quake.

Then, a 1.8 magnitude earthquake hit Union County around 8:30 a.m., about 5 miles east of Indian Trail.

No damage was reported from either quake.
