Partnership for Children of the Foothills and KidSenses Celebrate the Joy of Reading

SPECIAL FREE READING PROGRAMS ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7

RUTHERFORDTON — KidSenses Children’s Interactive Museum partners with Partnership for Children of the Foothills for a fun reading event at the museum on Fantastic Friday free admission day, December 7. Programs start at 10 a.m. and conclude at 12 p.m.

It may be cold outside, but families will find a warm reception at our second reading program sponsored by KidSenses Children’s Museum and Partnership for Children of the Foothills. There will be cozy spots throughout the museum to settle in and enjoy the pleasures of reading and being read to.

Kids can expect to encounter snowmen, gingerbread people and other Christmas characters in fun crafts and activities tied to reading some of our favorite stories like Snowmen at Night and The Mitten. Kids will make crafts they can take home, hear stories and participate in interactive activities to stimulate the mind!

The event is designed to raise awareness around the importance of Reading Aloud 15 Minutes a Day and sharing the resources available through the Partnership of Children of the Foothills, like the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

KidSenses Children’s Museum and Partnership for Children of the Foothills recognize how important reading is for early childhood development. Reading is fun, informative, and necessary for children of all ages. It’s especially important that children start reading early, as it is very beneficial for early brain development. Reading helps children build vocabulary and learn about the world around them. Studies show that children who are read to, and who also learn to read at an early age are more likely to find success throughout their lives.

The Partnership for Children of the Foothills exists to build and sustain partnerships with community agencies and service providers that build a strong foundation for children’s learning and development by strengthening families, the early education system and the community.

KidSenses Children’s Interactive Museum is located at 172 N. Main Street in Historic Downtown Rutherfordton. Museum summer hours are Monday – Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Closed on Sunday.
