Willine Johnson Hames, age 76, of State Line Road, Mooresboro, NC went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
      Willine was born August 3, 1942 in Spartanburg County, SC and was the daughter of the late Willie Romeo Johnson and Alice Hall Johnson. She was also preceded by her husband of fifty-one years, Donald C. Hames and three brothers, Gene, Alton and Junior Johnson.
     She worked for Aero-Quip Industries for many years and was a lifetime member of Hicks Grove Baptist Church. Willine was a homemaker and enjoyed craftwork. She loved taking trips to the mountains.
      Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Donald Ray Hames and wife, Libby of Mooresboro; daughter, Alice Jolley of Mooresboro; two brothers, Joe Johnson and Roger Johnson; five sisters, Marie Blanchard, Catherine Burke, Louvenia Scruggs, Carrie Cooper and Hazel Bullman. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brett Hames and Anissa Earley and husband, Nathan; one great-grandchild, Greyson Amos.
     A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Hicks Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Raymond Byrd officiating.
     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043.  Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

Delbert “Del” John Ligon, age 71, of Spindale, NC, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Del was born July 27, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Delbert William Ligon and Marie Belcore Barlow. Del honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked for many years in the hospitality industry in the Jacksonville, NC area and in Chicago, Illinois as a chef. He owned and operated two restaurants in Jacksonville, NC; Marie’s Italian Beef and Chicago Cafe and Bakery. After moving to the Rutherfordton County area in 2008, Del became active in the Cpl. Chris S. Ebert Marine Corps League detachment #1221 and served several years as Commandant. He was truly dedicated to his family and to his country.
      Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Rudena “Rudi” Gibbs Ligon; son, Scott Anthony Ligon of Jacksonville, NC;  daughter, Candace Ligon Burns (Roger) of Hubert, NC;  stepsons, Robert Christopher “Chris”  Brown of San Francisco, CA; Bishop Kevin Scott Brown (Caroline) of Wilmington, DE; Vincent Gregory Brown (Debra) of Forest City, NC; and James “Rocky” Lawson Fallon, Jr. of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Hayden Anthony Ligon and Zoey Marie Burns; and ten step-grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
     A gathering of friends and family will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Marine Corps League Headquarters, 120 West Trade St, Forest City, NC. A flag presentation will be conducted by the Marine Corps League in honor of Mr. Ligon’s service to his country.

Zeb Conner, age 82, of James Road, Mooresboro, NC, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.
     Zeb was born April 25, 1936 in Rutherford County and was the son of the late James Washington Conner and Lula Lee Hawkins Conner. He worked in textiles for thirty years and owned and operated Conner’s Automotive Garage in Caroleen for several years. Zeb also worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church of Ellenboro and enjoyed woodworking. Zeb was widely known for his talent in playing the steel guitar.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Conner; two sisters, Ruby Boston and Ocie Conner; three brothers, Jim Conner, Fred Conner and Oren Campbell.
     Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of twenty-five years, Patsy Greene Conner; two daughters, Donna Cantrell of Mooresboro and Kimberly Henson and husband, Johnny of Mooresboro; two sons, Roger Conner and wife, Ruth of Forest City and Jimmy Conner and wife, Patty of Caroleen. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
     A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Victory Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny McCarty officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the church.

Arthur Cleve Miller, age 90, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away on November 9th 2018.  Arthur was the son of the late Arthur James Miller and Florence Meadows Miller. In addition to his parents Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Johnsie Lee Honeycutt Miller.  Arthur served in the United States Air Force, occupied Japan, was attached to the embassy in London, England and was instrumental in implementing computer technology to help aid in Air Force Intelligence. During his time in the Air Force, he received a Bronze OLC along with other decorations and medals. Arthur later retired as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of service.

Left to cherish his memory are his son David Miller of Union Mills, NC; Son Wayne (Debra) of Bostic, NC; Daughter Linda Pennington (Ernie) of Mooresboro, NC; Son Tim Miller (Linda) of Forest City, NC; Sister Effie Edward of Burlington, NC; five grandchildren and six grandchildren.  Services will be held on Sunday November 11th 2018 at 3:00PM at Camp Creek Baptist Church, 1801 Camp Creek Rd, Union Mills, NC 28167, with Dr. Tony McCraw officiating.
