Arrested for Watering Plants at Neighbor’s

Watering Cannabis Indica (Marijuana) Plants

Deputy Jesse Hicks of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Charles Joseph Young Jr., 53, of 82 Goldenrod Drive in Marion, with manufacturing marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and carrying a concealed weapon.

On the night of Saturday, Sept. 22, Hicks and Lt. Derrick McGinnis were called to 101 Ridgeview Drive in Marion in reference to suspicious activity.

When deputies arrived, they found Young at the house. He reported that he was there feeding and watering the dogs while the home owner was out of town.

Deputies found a gun on Young and discovered three freshly watered marijuana plants behind the house.

A search of Young’s vehicle also turned up .45 gram of methamphetamine.
