One13 event venue holds ribbon cutting

Travis McEntyre and Rodney Greene are welcomed by Stan Clements and Jimmy Dancy.

There is a new venue for special events at 113 W Court St. Rutherfordton in the old Sylvan theatre. Rodney Green, of Timeout Management and Travis McEntyre, Pastor of Harvest House Baptist Church and Blue Ridge Community Action, partnered together last July to create ONE13. According to employee Shannon Hicks, they’ve already held a few events including the popular Prime of Life for senior citizens.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday and several members of the community showed their support, including Rutherfordton Mayor Jimmy Dancy. Afterward, the co-owners spoke about the new venue and what their plans were for the space. Inside, the space was decorated for a special event, the tables were skirted and the lighting set the tone.

According to Rodney Greene, they “can accommodate up to 150 people and a the VIP suite upstairs hold thirteen.” They’ve already hosted one wedding and the bookings are coming in steadily. ONE13 features a stage, a DJ area, and a dance floor. There are several ways that tables can be set up and the client can choose how they want to do so. Many events can be held there including baby showers, weddings, corporate events, even birthday parties.

Greene and McEntyre were proud to be be using a building that has been empty for many years. “Giving back to the community is very important,” McEntyre said. ONE13 can also provide all the necessary elements of weddings and and events including waitstaff, linens and setup.
