RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Gregory Hannah filed a federal lawsuit Thursday night accusing his employer, WestRock Services Inc., of gender discrimination and other employment violations. In the filing, Hannah wants his job back with back pay. He also has requested r a jury trial and damages.
Gregory Hannah’s problems began after he received a promotion and his company hired his same-sex partner. The two planned to be married in 2016,. As his co-workers learned of this same-sex marriage, homophobic comments at the Rutherford County manufacturing plant began in earnest.
Danny Lynch, his boss who was allegedly part of the harassment, supposedly had another employee falsely accuse Hannah of sexual harassment. The suit states a series of trumped-up violations escalated to the point that in May 2017, Lynch had him fired.
