Mrs. Amanda Atkins Allen, 33, of Bostic, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Mission Hospital, Asheville.
She is the daughter of Gary and Connie Atkins of Bostic. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church where she was active in the choir.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Jamie Allen; a daughter, Audrey Ellen Skipper; her 2 sons, Benjamen Dale Atkins and Dutch Allen; her sister, Theresa Probst and husband Josh, of Bostic; her maternal grandparents, Clifford and Thelma Lincoln of Bostic; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Sherry Allen of Ellenboro; a brother-in-law, Michael Allen; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

The Funeral will be conducted at 4:00 pm Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Concord Baptist Church. The Rev. Travis Laflin will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Visitation will be from 1:30 until 3:45 pm Thursday at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth and Children’s Funds, Concord Baptist Church, PO Box 70, Bostic, NC 28018.

James “Big Jim” Davidson, age 73 of Rutherfordton , died Thursday, May 3, 2018, at his daughters home in Inman, SC.

Jim was the son of the late Robert Paul Davidson and a native of Cherokee County S C. He worked for Strickland Construction Company of Ellenboro as a heavy equipment operator for many years and also worked in logging. Jim loved racing and he was an avid outdoorsman. He always kept Coon dogs and loved to hunt Coons. He was preceded in death by his brother Dean Davidson.

He is survived by his wife; Evelyn Davidson.

One Daughter: Mary D. Schaefer and her husband Darren.

One Son: Paul Davidson

One Step-daugher: Gwen Harwood and her husband Stephen.

Four Grandchildren: Brianna Schaefer, Sierra Davidson, Christopher Pulley and Brandy Langley.

The body will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 1:15 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, at Pores Ford Baptist Church. The Funeral service will be at Pores Ford Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 5, 2018 with Reverend Scott Moneyham officiating. Interment will be at Pores Ford Baptist Church Cemetery.


Ruth Vickers Bradley, age 87, of Mooresboro, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Born December 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Vickers and Eva Champion Vickers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, C.B. Vickers; and four sisters, an infant sister, Alice Vickers, Gertrude Emory, and Mary Tesseneer.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 71 years, George Bradley of the home; one son, Dewey Bradley and wife Cathy of Mooresboro; two daughters, Paulette Saunders of Spartanburg, Renee Smart and husband Jimmy of Mooresboro; one brother, Joe Vickers of Mooresboro. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel.  The family received friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
