Leadership program teaches valuable skills

SPINDALE – A group of local college students honed their leadership skills in a joint program between Isothermal Community College and Gardner-Webb University this spring.

The Leadership Academy is a partnership between the two institutions devoted to developing and enhancing leadership skills. This is accomplished through training and exposure from top business leaders, behind-the-scenes tours with executives in the several industries and enterprise sectors, and exercises and activities to strengthen the leader within each student.

In the program that just finished, Isothermal had eight students and GWU had six.

The ICC students were: Cody Arrowood, Clifton Baker, Tylor Dayberry, Justin Haney, Christian McNeely, Hailey McNeely, Lydia Shaneberger and Bethany Walker.

There is no cost to participate in the Leadership Academy. However, it is limited to 10 students from Isothermal per session. The next Leadership Academy will start in September of 2018.

Anyone interested in participating should contact Mark Franklin at mfranklin@isothermal.edu or 828-395-1677.
