Deputies can’t find WoFF’s Jane Whaley; Bell moves for continuance of Guffey sign theft case

There are many things that go unreported in this community. It was 30 years ago that the FBI investigated Word of Faith Fellowship; so how is it that things haven’t changed since?

RCcatalyst  learned that Wayne Guffey’s trial for the theft of his campaign sign by a WoFF member will be put off again.

Remember the story?

Candidate for Sheriff Wayne Guffy has charged Word of Faith member Kerrick Hudson with the removal of a campaign sign. Hudson’s act at approximately 1:30 a.m. on March 13, 2018 was captured on a “deer” camera that is activated by motion.

The district attorney called the case last month knowing that the judge would recuse himself. If D.A. Bell knew the judge would recuse himself he could have called the case with a special judge in the first place. Instead Bell then asked for a trial date of May 4 with a judge to be brought in from Gaston County.

Now Bell has notified parties that Sheriff Chris Francis has not been able to serve Jane Whaley with papers to appear in court as a material witness. Sheriff Francis did not respond to our request for comment. The trial will be continued to May 25, 2018 – right after the primary election race for sheriff and the Friday before Memorial Day which is observed on the last Monday of May.

From Wayne Guffey’s Facebook page –

YET AGAIN my case against the WOFF member who stole my campaign sign was continued!!!!! I find it absolutely unacceptable for this organization to continually get away with crimes. PEOPLE of RUTHERFORD COUNTY WAKE UP!!! Like I told Ted Bell, I don’t care how many times they attempt to continue this I’m NEVER DROPPING this, I’m NEVER giving up ! Supposedly JANE WHALEY can’t be found to serve the subpoena, REALLY????? By the grace of GOD and the good people of Rutherford County if I am elected your next Sheriff I WILL hold all accountable for every crime regardless of who you are or with whom you are affiliated. “It’s not the violence that sets men apart, but it is the distance that he is prepared to go”, and I am more than prepared to go!

Mr. Bell was not in his Rutherfordton office for comment.
