Obituaries

Teresa Wells, age 56, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born August 12, 1961 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Lou Wells and Carolyn Frady Wells Walker. She was a graduate of Broome High School, class of 1979. Teresa was a faithful member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church and lovingly served as the Supervisor for the Women’s Home and Shelter at the Grace of God Rescue Mission for nineteen years. Teresa was known as a selfless and loving person. She loved cooking for others and caring for those who needed help and was God’s angel to many. She will be missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Johnny Ray Wells and a brother, Steve Wells.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, April Wells of Forest City and Amanda Wells of Polk County; one son, Kyle Wells of Lake Lure; two aunts, Joyce Durham of Boiling Springs, SC and Margaret Holt and husband, Tommy of Spartanburg. She is also survived by a host of “Adopted Kids” and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Mike Cash and Mr. Terry Hagaman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are respectfully requested to the Grace of God Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 212, Forest City, NC 28043 or to Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church, 1938 U.S. Highway 221A, Forest City, NC 28043.

Peter “Pete” D. Smith, age 77, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born October 17, 1940 in Manchester, England, he was the son of Charles Smith and Gladys Gamble Smith. Pete was an International Dog Show Judge and a UK Chartered Accountant. He was a highly respected Kennel Club hound judge in England and Europe and also an AKC (American Kennel Club) judge. He judged Otterhounds in Birmingham, England in 2017 at the very prestigious Crufts Kennel Club dog show. Highly sought after for his expertise, he was currently judging for IABCA (International All Breed Canine Association). Pete bred and exhibited Bloodhounds in England under the affix “Actaeon”. Although his passion was Bloodhounds, he also bred and exhibited Otterhounds. He was an Otterhound mentor to many in the dog world and offered a wealth of knowledge and education to the dog show fancy. He was highly educated and received a musical scholarship for the violin to the Lancashire Youth Orchestra. Later he taught viola to students at Lancashire Youth Orchestra. Pete was a very sensitive and compassionate man, outraged by prejudice and inequalities of the time, at just 19 years old he started the Eccles Asian Social Club in Manchester, England.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, JoAnn Freise of Forest City; sister, Jacquie Hutcheon of Stirling, Scotland; two nephews, Kurt Hutcheon (Gill) of Cornwall, England and Steven Hutcheon of Manchester, England; niece, Lisa McNeill Ritchie (Callum) of Stirling; three great-nephews, Jonathan Hutcheon of Manchester, Caden McNeill Ritchie and Adrian McNeill Ritchie both of Stirling and a great-niece, Victoria Hutcheon of Queenstown, New Zealand.

In honor of the family’s request, no formal services will be held.

Geraldine Sisk Morrison 72, died 25, 2018 at home in Mooresboro surrounded by her family. Geraldine was born June 14, 1945 to the late Rev. J.L. and Rucell Sisk.

Geraldine Married the love of her life, Hicks, in 1960. She passionately loved her family, friends and life as well as serving Goode’s Grove Baptist Church. She volunteered as the church pianist for 38 years loving each member of her church family. She retired from Cleveland Pines Nursing Center as both a helping hand and unit secretary. She loved the staff as if they were her family.

Geraldine is survived by her husband of 58-years, Hicks Morrison, daughters Angela Orsky (Husband Rick), Michelle Lail, granddaughters Nicolette Orsky (friend James Talley), Michaela Orsky, Sara Lail, Special friends Ahmya Sumpter and Anesia Bridges. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Clara McSwain and Doris McCoy and her brother, Thomas Sisk. She adored her brother, and sister-in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Goode’s Grove Baptist Church, Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 2-4 PM. A private burial service will be officiated by Rev. Robert Hensley.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the hospice care team who cared for er at home: Raina Crowder, Chrissy Lail, Amanda Sherbert and Erica Scruggs.

Geraldine asked in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Goode’s Grove Baptist Church’s new building fund, PO Box 67, Mooresboro, NC 28114.


Mr. Edward Glen Womack age 78 passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Rutherford County he is the son of the late Howard G. and Lucille Camby Womack. He is a retired truck driver and attended Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Faye Roper Womack; children Diane Womack Waters, David E. Toney and wife Sheila, Eric S. Womack and fiancée Catina; grandchildren Kerri Lyda Taylor and husband Dwayne, Alan Waters and fiancée Emily, Tyler Waters and fiancée Kelsey, Jessica Toney, Casey Harper and husband Michael; great grandchildren Landon Harper, Chandler Blount and Connor Blount; sisters Opal Womack Crain and husband Darvin, Judy Womack Hill and husband Leonard, special friend Tony Sullivan, as well as a number of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Teresa Womack Lyda.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church 2466 Cove Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139  with Rev. Jack Crain, Rev. Bobby Brown, and Rev. Jamie Pascarella officiating. Mr. Womack will be buried at The Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM Saturday April 28, 2018 at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church.
