Mrs. Edna Eplee McCurry, 86, of Rutherfordton, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Eplee, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Carrie Lou Calhoun. Edna was a faithful member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. James “Jim” McCurry; her sons, Ricky McCurry and wife Lynn, of Rutherfordton, and Dean McCurry and wife Penny, of Rutherfordton; a grandson, Ben McCurry, and 2 step grandchildren, Danielle Cronk and Brandon Harrill.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul White, Jr. will officiate.
The Visitation will be from 2 pm until 3 pm at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Charles “Red” O’Neal Humphries of Cliffside 85, born April 19, 1932 in Cliffside, died February 12, 2018. He was the son of the late Lassie Humphries and Pauline Addington Humphries. He was retired from Duke Power Company. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 plus years, Ramona Wallace Humphries, one brother; Max Humphries and one sister; Patricia Abernathy. He also served in the Navy during World War II.
Left to cherish his memory is a son Barry Humphries and his wife Jolaine of Rock Hill, South Carolina. One brother; Ben Humphries of Cliffside, One grandson; Russell Clay Humphries and his wife Kristen, along with two great grandchildren; Charles (Charlie) Barry Humphries and Pixley Humphries also of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
The Family will receive friends at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, Wednesday February 14, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday February 15, 2018 at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery, Forest City, NC with the Rev. Robert Hodgens officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.

Mrs. Mildred Edgerton Waters, age 97, of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Harris Edgerton and the late Estelle Weeks Edgerton. She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Mildred was one of ten children and was the mascot for the 1st graduating class of the old Mount Vernon High School. She was a loving mother and grandmother, loved to be outdoors to garden and loved to cook. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin A. Waters.

One Daughter: Nancy Pelletier of Missoula, Montana
One Sister: Ethel Metcalf of Rutherfordton
One Brother: Hoyle Edgerton Sr. of Rutherfordton
Two Grandchildren:Jamey Waters and wife Claudia , Amy Richardson and husband Mark
Four Great-Grandchildren: J.T. Waters, Natalie Waters, Christa Olgelsby and Tradd Richardson.
The graveside service will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2018 with Reverend Dr. Scott Courtney and Reverend Don Hollifield officiating. Interment will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
