Mr. Robert “Bob” Waters, 83, of Bostic, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Hospice House, Forest City.

Joshua Byron Rippy, age 34, of Salem Church Road, Ellenboro, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his residence.
Born April 4, 1983 in Rutherford County, he is the son of Jacquelyn Horne Taylor who resides in Rutherfordton and the late Byron Wayne Rippy. Joshua was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 2001 and was a self-employed mechanic. His life’s passion was working on cars and taking care of his children.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, George Taylor of Rutherfordton; two daughters, Aliza Rippy and Grace Hagan and one son, Byron Rippy; nine siblings, Michelle Lynn Rippy of Cliffside, Charidy Dobbins (Carl) of Ellenboro, Heather Harris (Patrick) of Gaffney, Justin Rippy of Rutherfordton, Jaremy Rippy (Kylie) of Forest City, George Taylor III of Rutherfordton, Shane Taylor of Forest City, Brittany Taylor of Forest City and Angel Nanney also of Forest City. He is also survived by his step-grandmother, Mary Taylor of Spindale and twenty nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Reverend Chad Sisk and Reverend Todd Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery on Rob Long Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Wayne Howard Whitener 74, of Forest City passed away at his home on January 24, 2018.  Wayne worked in the used cars business and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Leroy Whitener and Vernie Sue Pritchard Whitener a sister Martha Ann Flores, a brother Ronnie Whitener and a grandson Mason Whitener.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Sylvia;  sons, Brian Whitener (Sherry) of Rutherfordton, Brad Whitener (Melony) of Forest City,  Grandsons Michael Whitener, Matthew Whitener, Chris Whitener, Kiefer Whitener, Stuart Whitener, Cameron Whitener, Luke Ross; Granddaughters  Laura Jackson  and Harley Russell of Florida.   Wayne was a loving husband, father and grandfather always putting his family first.  Wayne was a hero to his family.

Services will be private and held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Building Fund, 2674 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City, NC 28043.

Mr. Henry Edward “Ted” Jones, 88, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2018 at Fair Haven Home of Forest City.
He was born in Ellenboro and was the son of the late Pinckney Ralph Jones and Kate Keever Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lennie  Lee Atchley Jones; his children, Henry Edward Jones, Jr., Sherry Jones Bradley, and Judy Lynn Jones; his sisters, Katie Lou Wells and Annie Belle  Robbins; and 8 brothers, Arthur Lee, Pinkney , Clifford,  Jerry , Charles, Ray Keever, David and John.

Ted was a lifelong member of Walls Baptist Church where he served in several positions. He was well known as a top automobile salesman at Beam Chevrolet, and also worked with Bill Turner and W. B. Wilson. He began his adult life working for Stonecutter, and served in Germany in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, and in the reserves until November 1956.

He is survived by 5 grandchildren, Crissy White Wilson, Donald Howard Bradley, Chad Howard Bradley, Tara Jones Palmer and Edward Lee Jones, all of Rutherford County; there are 6 great grandchildren, Hadden Wilson, Chase Wilson, Alexandria Smalley, Gavin Palmer, Owen Woodard and Aliyah Bradley;  his 2 sisters, Emma Sue Ayers of Ellenboro, and Joann Blankenship of Henrietta; and 2 brothers,  Robert “Bob” Jones and wife Wilma,  of Ellenboro, and Rev. Perry Jones and wife Joyce, of Forest City; a brother-in-law, Floyd Wells; and 3 sisters-in-law, Linda Jones, Johnnie Sue Conner, and Geneva Wilson.



Mr. Ronnie Steve Jackson, 69, of Shelby, died Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Charles George VA Medical Center Hospice.

Becky Morrow Tipton, age 75, of Forest City, died Friday, January 26, 2018 at her residence.

Born April 9, 1942 in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Morrow and Laura Warlick Morrow. She was a kindhearted lady whose labor of love was being a caretaker for the elderly. Becky was an avid reader and a past member of Alexander Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Tipton and nine brothers and sisters, Charles Morrow, Joe Morrow, Jerry Morrow, Irene Splawn, Ruth Moore, Betty Bostic, Rosie Bridges, Martha McDaniel and Donna Roach.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sisters, Linda Vallecillo and Susan Dycus both of Forest City. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and her companion pet, Sugar.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole and Mr. Scott Roach officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at a special niece’s house, Nancy Splawn, 1729 Oakland Road, Forest City, NC  28043.

Donna Cash Greene, age 80 of Francis Street, Forest City died Friday, January 26, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Donna was born November 24, 1937 and was a daughter of the late Zephy Lloyd and Plumer Smith Cash. She worked for Cone Mills at both Cliffside Plants where she retired after many years employment. Donna was a graduate of R-S Central High School, a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She also loved gardening and working in her flowers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Scott Mashburn, and a brother, Milton Lloyd Cash.

Survivors include her husband, Hal M. Greene, two daughters, Paula Board and husband Michael of Harrisburg, NC, Lisa Greene of Rutherfordton, a brother, Michael Cash and wife Jackie of Hastings NB, three sisters, Maxine Miller of Rutherfordton, Sarah Searcy and husband Bobby Joe of Union Mills and Bonnie Monteith of Gilkey. There are seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Monday at Riverside Baptist Church with the Reverend Ted Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 1 until 2 PM Monday prior to the service.
