WoFF defense lawyer to withdraw from Fenner case

BUNCOMBE COUNTY — In the State of North Carolina versus Justin Brock Covington, the defense attorney, Krinn Evans, has made a motion to withdraw representation. Evans was appointed to represent Covington on June 30, 2017.

Evans has met with Covington, the young man Word of Faith Fellowship (WoFF) pastor Jane Whaley calls her grandson, extensively.

However, since that time the office of Krinn E. Evans, P.A. has associated former case prosecutor Garland F. Byers, Jr.  as an employee of that firm. Byers had been directly responsible for the prosecution of Justin Brock Covington. As a result, Evans contends there is a conflict of interest that cannot be resolved.

Evans has filed Notice of Hearing to be heard on February 16, 2018 in Buncombe County to withdraw as the attorney of record for Justin Brock Covington.
