RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. -A medical truck drove up an embankment and overturned while trying to avoid a head-on collision outside a fire station.
A N.C. State Trooper said the truck from the Shingle Hollow Volunteer Fire Department was being driven along Cove Road in Rutherford County Sunday at 7:10 p.m. when it was forced off the road by a vehicle driving towards it.
Troopers said the driver of the on coming vehicle was fidgeting with an interior light when he crossed the center line, ending up in the medical truck’s path, forcing the truck off the road to avoid the crash.
Officials said the truck landed on its left side, causing the driver to have to be cut out of the vehicle. The firefighter driving the truck was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Troopers said no charges have been filed in the crash.
