RUTHERFORDTON – Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS) has announced the addition of Brian Pienkos, MD, an orthopedic surgeon, to its medical staff and Rutherford Orthopaedics. He began work December 4.
He joins a practice featuring Drs. Mike Roberts and Charles Bond, also orthopedic surgeons, and Jason Glover, DPM, a fellowship-trained foot and ankle specialist.
“A top priority for our health system is to bring new providers to Rutherford County and we are extremely excited about the addition of Dr. Pienkos,” said Rebecca Segal, CEO at RRHS. “He is an extremely skilled and personable surgeon. He not only meets a need for our health system and orthopedic practice, but for the community as well. He should be very well-received for his expertise and bedside manner.”
Dr. Pienkos comes to RRHS after serving as chief of orthopedic surgery at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Fort Campbell, KY. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. Prior to that he earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA.
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Additionally, he holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army and served as an orthopedic surgeon with both the 240th Forward Surgical Team in Iraq and the 541st Forward Surgical Team in Afghanistan.
Dr. Pienkos is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He also is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as well as the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons.
