Help identify culprit in attempted robbery

MARION — Investigators with Marion Police Department are still looking for the culprit that attempted to rob a convenience store on Monday night, Oct. 23.

The man pictured here from surveillance video inside the old M&M Supermarket on the five lane is a person of interest and is wanted for questioning in the case. He was driving this white SUV.

Officers were called to the store at 11:54 p.m. on Oct. 23. Upon arrival, they spoke with staff inside the store and learned that what appeared to be a black male wearing black clothing, a black mask partially covering his face and white socks over his hands entered the business through the front door. The man brandished a knife and demanded money from the safe and register.

When the clerk was unable to open the safe or the register, the robber fled empty-handed south on the five lane toward Bojangles’.
