Mrs. Maxine Gross Romney, 86, of Ellenboro, died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Hospice House, Forest City.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Fay Klausner Gross. Maxine was a Professor of Business at Cleveland Community College for 25 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Propst and husband Randy, of Mooresboro; her son, Edward Romney of Ellenboro; a sister, Arlene Fink of Pacific Palisades, CA; there are 4 grandchildren, Nick Propst, Sammy Romney, Nessa Romney, and Logan Romney.

The Funeral will be conducted at 7:oo pm Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. Elizabeth Propst and Edward Romney will both have eulogies for their mother.

A private burial will take place later at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.

The Visitation will be from 6 pm until 7 pm Wednesday prior to the service.

Bradley Eugene Morgan, age 82 of Rutherfordton died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are pending with Padgett & King.

Evelyn Mae Lewis Butler age 87 of Fair Haven Home went to be with The Lord on Sunday October 8, 2017. Born in Rutherford County, Evelyn was a seamstress and a minister with The Church of God.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leroy Bostic Butler, her mother, Ruth Lewis Hutchins, one daughter Wanda Flynn, one step granddaughter Beverly Herring, one half- brother Jimmy Hutchins and one half- sister Hazel Turner.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Steve Butler and wife Cathy; Cecil Perry Butler, Sr. and wife Sherry, two half-brothers Roy and Billy Hutchins, four half-sisters Jessie Flowe, Margaret Jackson, Mildred Ridings and Dorothy Elliott, one grandson Cecil Perry Butler, II, two step grandsons Michael and Joe Rodi, and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Wednesday October 11, 2017 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. William Alley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043.
