A knotty project may be record holder

Vying for the world's largest knot

EDNEYVILLE, N.C. — A knotty project that started as a joke has taken on a new perspective as it vies for its place in the Guinness World Records.

Skip Hipps, of Edneyville, claims he’s created the world’s largest knot and Guinness World Records has been contacted to come and verify it.

Hipps said he has been working on the 6 1/2 feet long knot with 650 strands for 13 months.
