Nebo shooting victim dies —

Joshua Eric Kelley, 33, of 324 Deer Park Resort in Nebo, died Tuesday night, Oct. 3 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville from injuries he sustained the previous day during a shootout.

A man that was with Kelley early that morning has now been charged.

Michael Allen Spencer, 43, of 616 Linville Road in Nebo, was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Kelley, Spencer and two others – who are wanted for questioning – went to a garage at 58 Rolling Meadow Drive in Nebo between 12:30 and 1 a.m. Monday and began firing shots.

There were also four people inside the garage at the time.

During an exchange of gunfire, Kelley was shot multiple times in his torso and head. An investigation into the shooting revealed that the subjects inside the garage were defending themselves, and it’s not likely they will be charged wit h Kelley’s death.

Investigators are still looking for 29-year-old Greggory Cole Lowery, of 616 Linville Road in Nebo, and 38-year-old Daniel McCoy Bradley, of 5799 Harmony Grove Road in Nebo, for questioning.
