Three arrested in Gardner-Webb shootings

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Three people have been arrested, at least one accused of firing a gun at Gardner-Webb University Wednesday night. Drew Christopher Hawkins, 18, Diatrius Maiquise Harris, 22, and Randolph Lewis Gilcrest, 18, are charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm on educational property. The shooter has not been identified.

One person shot at another in a parking lot between two dorms on the west side of campus off of Stadium Drive around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. No one was injured in the incident. In total 10 shots were fired, shattering a nearby car window and hitting the wall of a breezeway.

Investigators are still searching for a person of interest who allegedly ran from the scene. They believe he was the person who came under fire.
