Ru Ann Moore, age 60, of Union Mills, died Friday, September 22, 2017, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late George Adam Moore. She was a member of Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church, a member of the Betsy Ross 4H Club and a member of the WM Department at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church. Ru was instrumental in getting classes started to meet the needs of special needs children in Rutherford County.

She is survived by her mother Lois Moore

Four Nieces: April, Sarah, Michelle and Molly

Seven Nephews: Grayson, Chris, Kenneth, Kodi, Jeff, Caleb and Ty.

The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 2:45 PM, Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church. The funeral service will be at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church at 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 24, 2017 with Reverend Jack Crain and Reverend Ben Parton officiating.

Interment will be at Shingle Hollow Holiness Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Single Hollow Congregational Holiness Church Building Fund at 2466 Cove Rd. Rutherfordton, NC 28139. The family is gathering at the home of Lois Moore.

James F. Couch, age 83, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Hunter Woods Nursing & Rehab Center in Charlotte.

Born September 12, 1934 to the late Claude Cecil Couch and Thelma Fowler Couch, he worked in textiles most of his life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delia Couch; two brothers, John and Charles Couch and a sister, Hazel Sprouse.

Those left to cherish his memory include daughter, Diane Sheriff of Charlotte; two sisters, Mary Ezzell of Kings Mountain and Eva Swaney of Charlotte and sister-in-law, Zanda E. Couch of New London, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will conduct a private celebration to honor his life and memory.

Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

Claude Max McKinney, age 82 of Ellenboro, North Carolina died Friday, September 22, 2017 at Hospice House in Forest City.

Claude was born June 19, 1935 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late William Henry Grady McKinney and Mildred Elizabeth Wilson McKinney. He was a graduate of Ellenboro High School and Spartanburg Technical College and was an electrician and farmer. He worked with the Shipping Department at Porter Brothers in Shelby and later retired from American Safety. Claude was a member of the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church and also served in the United States Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John McKinney and Howard McKinney.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Genell Parker McKinney of the home, sons, Scott McKinney and wife, Sarah of Ellenboro, Greg McKinney of Ellenboro ; one brother, William McKinney and wife, Mary Elizabeth of Ellenboro; granddaughter, Alexandra McKinney, step-grandchildren, Jordan Hawkins, Matthew Hawkins and Nathan Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, September 24 at four o’clock in The Padgett and King Chapel with Elder Ralph Dale, the Reverend Chris Hensley and the Reverend Scott Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:30 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.
