RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Assistant District Attorney Ken Sauve submitted an application and writ of Habeas Corpus ad Prosequedum to order Adam Bartley to appear at the RC courthouse on September 8, 2017. Bartley who is currently confined in jail for other crimes will also face charges of assault and 2nd degree kidnapping of Matthew Fenner.
Judge J. Thomas Davis signed the order on August 2, 2017.
The five defendants, all former or current Word of Faith Fellowship (WoFF) members, are facing charges from the alleged January 27, 2013 incident of “blasting” demons out of gay member Matthew Fenner at the church sanctuary. The first trial for defendant WoFF minister Brooke Covington ended in a mistrial.
The Fenner cases have been subjected to delays by the defense and some scheduling issues. The cases are the oldest in this court’s case load.
