Update on Fenner/Bartley/WoFF members’ cases




RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. — The motion for change of venue for the Word of Faith Fellowship former member Adam Bartley charges has been cancelled for today in Asheville. Judge Marvin Pope, Jr. approved the cancellation on July 26, 2017.  Instead, state prosecutor Garland F. Byers, Jr. will call the hearing for the Sept. 11, 2017 court session with Judge Marvin Pope, Jr. The hearing will be held in Rutherford County (RC).

The trial is expected to be called in December 2017. The re-trial of Brooke Covington will be in 2018.

The gag order imposed by the Brooke Covington trial Judge Gavenus has a deadline of August 1, 2017 for all documentation to move that the gag order be lifted.

Five members and former members of the WoFF face charges of assault and 2nd degree kidnapping of former member Matthew Fenner. The alleged incident occurred on January 27, 2013.
