RC GOP Speaker protested on Friday

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Healthcare concerns led to protesters turning out for Congressman Mark Meadows’ fundraiser on Friday. Meadows is the scheduled keynote speaker for Rutherford County’s GOP Lincoln-Reagan Dinner at the Carolina Event Center this evening.

The Transylvania County chapter of the NAACP protested at Hawg Wild restaurant in Pisgah Forest Friday, saying the conservative Meadows (R-N.C.) has refused to have a town hall or answer direct questions from his constituents. The chapter organized a rally across the street from the Meadows’ event to raise concerns about proposals to repeal and replace Obamacare.
