Citizen’s tip led to arrest of man charged with felony B&E

MARION – A tip from a concerned citizen Monday afternoon, June 26 led to the apprehension of a man wanted on felony charges.

Detective J.T. Grindstaff of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office had issued warrants for breaking and entering and larceny for 35-year-old Andrew Mitchell Barchie Jr., of Mooresboro.

Shortly after the Sheriff’s Office posted Barchie’s information and picture on social media Monday, a citizen reported his whereabouts. Sheriff’s Office detectives and Marion police officers arrested him Monday afternoon at a location on Carolina Avenue.

Barchie and two other suspects, who were already behind bars, are accused of breaking into the 2118 Silvers Welch Road home of Holly Evans and Brandon Nallen on Sunday, June 25 and attempting to steal $1,170 worth of property.

Evans and Nallen caught the culprits in the act, but Barchie fled the scene and was on the run from authorities.
