A special thanks to the continuing efforts of the Rutherfordton 225th Anniversary committee whose hard work preserves the history and culture of this town. Last week was the premiere of the Digital History of Education in Rutherford County, a project of the Educational Heritage Sub-Committee.  Their work can be seen directly at this site. A grateful thank you to all those who contributed to the project.

“Celebrating Our Healthcare Heritage” is Sunday afternoon, August 26, 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Norris Biggs Conference Room at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. The free event that has been planned and coordinated by the Rutherfordton 225th Anniversary Sub-committee on Health Care Heritage. It includes an Open House with a walking tour of the Medical Center’s museum and St. Luke’s Chapel.

You’ll see the first showing of “Healthcare History”, a DVD featuring stories about the county’s first school of nursing, and the origins of the Auxiliary, public health and EMS services in Rutherford County. It’s a video of many faces that you know and love telling the story of health care through the years! The “Celebrating Rutherford Our Heritage and History of Healthcare event is part of a year-long celebration of the Town of Rutherfordton’s 225th Anniversary . Call 286-5070 for more information.
