Community: Vehicle stop leads deputy to marijuana and nearly 200 pills

Deputy David Jones of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charge Jakime Raheim Whiteside, 23, of Lenoir, with two counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and one count of possession of marijuana.

Shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, Jones was traveling east on Interstate 40 and noticed a vehicle driving erratically.
He stopped the 2016 Toyota Camry and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.

Jones searched the Camry and its four occupants and found in Whiteside’s possession 7.8 grams of marijuana, nine Oxycodone and 185 methadone pills.
Whiteside was also wanted on outstanding warrants out of Buncombe and Caldwell counties.
