Mr. Wilbur “Gene” Ramsey,

Mr. Gene “Rambo” Ramsey, 70, of Vanceboro, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his residence.
His mother, Vennie Lola Ramsey died in 2016. He had worked for Crawley Logging Company for 17 years and E’s Trucking for 16 years.
He is survived by 2 sons, Ricky Gene Ramsey and wife Marsha, of Mooresboro, and Jamie Ramsey and wife Crystal, of Forest City; 3 granddaughters, Victoria Guffey, Brianna Ramsey, and Caitlin Ramsey; his cousin and best friend, Britt Philbeck and wife Susan; and special caregivers, Toby and Gail Eason of Vanceboro.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Hopewell Community Cemetery. The Rev. Perry Jones will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2 pm at the cemetery prior to the service.
Washburn & Dorsey Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd L. Peterson, age 82, of Bemidji, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.

Born November 8, 1934 in Crookston, Minnesota, he was a son of the late Louis L. Peterson and Sophie Carlson Peterson. Lloyd was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He owned and operated the Busy Corner Store and Corner Sports Craft in Blackduck, MN. He was also an owner and operating partner Bemidji Aviation. Lloyd was well known in the community for his generosity, kindness and sense of humor. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Bemidji. Among his many interests, he enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the “Shack”, four wheeling, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Eunice Ettestad Peterson; three special cousins, Palmer Peterson, Jack Ruberg, and Louis Anderson; his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Anna Ettestad.

Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Loren Lloyd Peterson and wife, Pamela of Ashland, Wisconsin; a daughter, Nanette Mae (Peterson) Westrud and husband, Duane of Rutherfordton; five grandchildren, Ryan Peterson, Karin Peterson, Erik Peterson, Evan Westrud and Sophie Westrud; close friend, Jean McDonald of Duluth, Minnesota; close family members, Gordie Ettestad and wife, Pat of International Falls, Minnesota, Vincent Ettestad and companion, Pat of Two Harbors, Minnesota and Rosaline Nesset and husband, Allan of Kelliher, Minnesota. He is also survived by four longtime friends, Larry Lovold, Warren Wittwer, Dale Nelson and Charlie Noren.

A memorial service will be held in Bemidji and will be announced on a later date.

Charles Kenneth Popham Jr., 61, of Mooresboro, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Hospice House. A native of Birmingham, AL, he was the son of Charles Kenneth Popham Sr. and the late Mona Gaye Popham. He was a long distance truck driver and a US Army veteran.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Bobbie Ross and husband Bill of Mooresboro, Lisa Blanton of Golden Valley; son Charles Kenneth Popham III; seven grandchildren, Samantha Dixon, Christopher Dixon, Derek Jones, Brittany Nalley, Michael Everheart, Dakota Blanton and Kailyn Watts (deceased); great grandchild Karson Jones; brother, Robert Popham and wife Lisa of Pleasant Grove, AL; sisters, Della Flake and husband Arnold of Double Springs, AL and Sharon Collins of AL. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hiuggins Popham.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Charles “Chuck” Hailey, 60, of Lake Lure, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.  A native of Forsyth County, NC he was the son of Dorothy Boyd Hailey and the late Dennis Lee Hailey. Chuck was a retired purchasing agent for Greenville Hospital Systems.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Leanne Craig of Charlotte; brother, Stephen Patrick Hailey of Lake Park, NC; and his beloved dog Susie. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his life partner, Dean Egly.

Memorial services will be held 1PM Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Church of the Transfiguration, Bat Cave, NC.
