RUTHERFORDTON- Rutherford County Commissioners unanimously voted to approve signing the contract for Piper Investments LLC to purchase┬áthe Queen’s Gap Phase 3 property in their regularly scheduled meeting Monday night.┬áThe execution of the sale is contingent on four conditions: two lot foreclosures, the purchase of lot 299, the purchase of the cemetery and road rights of way and the dissolution of the subdivision declaration.

The property is located off 221N near the McDowell County line. (See map below) Queen’s Gap will still have Phase 1 and 2 under development after the sale.

Also discussed in the meeting were the the bid tabs for Queen’s Gap project 4 and 5.

Project 4 bids had gone out twice with bids coming in well above the budgeted amounts. David Odom of Odom Engineering and Danny Searcy, Public Works and Planning Director recommended rejecting the bids, going over budget numbers and reassessing before putting up for bid again. This was approved by the commissioners.

Project 5 had had bids go out twice and named Site Development as the low bidder at $646,603.10 which is $10,000 over the recommended amount. Odom and Searcy asked the commissioners to approve this bid. The commissioners approved this request after emphasizing that this was being paid for with bond money from the project.
