Cycle North Carolina in Lake Lure this weekend
LAKE LURE- Cycle North Carolina comes to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Village with check-in beginning today at 5 p.m.
This is an annual event that brings around 500 people to the area. It is comprised of cyclists, their families and their support personnel. Morse Park in Lake Lure is their base camp.
The Chamber of Commerce will have a booth at Morse Park all day to provide information to participants on local restaurants, shops and activities. There are rider packets available at the booth.
Please be aware when traveling this weekend to especially watch out for cyclists on the roads in this area.
The Cycle NC Schedule is as follows:
- Saturday, August 1st: 8am to 4pm: Riders will choose from several routes in the surrounding mountains and countryside, ranging from 11 to 80 miles.
- Saturday, 5pm to 7pm: Evening social for participants: catered meal, entertainment and beverage tastings from Burntshirt winery, Oskar Blues Brewery and Blue Ridge Distilling.
- Sunday, August 2nd: 8 am – 2:30 pm: Riders will choose from several routes in the surrounding mountains and countryside, ranging from 11 to 62 miles
Sunday evening/Monday: Clean up and departure.
