Local law enforcement honored by Region C

RUTHERFORDTON — Forest City Police Lt. James Hoppes was selected as the Region C Officer of the Year during the Region C Board annual meeting.

According to a release, Hoppes has over 20 years of service and is a recent graduate of Class #26 at the NCJA Management Development Program. He is also a member of the latest Leadership Rutherford class.

Two members of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s department and a county pastor were also honored by the Region C Board.

Shelly Owens received the Region C Civilian Administrative Secretary of the Year award and Cpl. Brandon Ellenburg received the Region C Uniform Officer of the Year.

Pastor Paul Scott of Big Spring Baptist Church in Hollis was honored with the Region C Richard Corley Award for community service and support of law enforcement.

Region C is made up of law enforcement agencies in Rutherford, Polk, McDowell and Cleveland counties.
